Da Vinci Diamonds

Da Vinci Diamonds is one of the best known online slots games of all time, but did you know that it started life in land-based casinos?

Da Vinci Diamonds is made by world-renowned online slot developer, IGT, and it’s rather unique in the way that it combines the artwork of Italy’s most famous Renaissance painter with precious gemstones to give you five glittering reels and twenty paylines to play on.

The game was also the first IGT title to feature the company’s patented Tumbling Reels feature, which has since been emulated by other software houses under different names such as NetEnt’s Avalanche Feature in Gonzo’s Quest and Microgaming’s Rolling Reels in Immortal Romance.

Tumbling Reels can prove to be extremely powerful as they make it possible for you to create consecutive winning combinations with a single spin. So, you definitely get your money’s worth!

But, there’s more to come, because this artistic online slot also boasts a Free Spins Bonus where it’s possible to win as many as three hundred free spins. Furthermore, the highest-paying symbol in the game has the ability to award a jaw-dropping five thousand times your total stake.

The popularity of the game has led to IGT creating several sequel slots that come with even more special features such as Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play with its two reel sets and the recently launched Da Vinci Diamonds Masterworks edition with its giant multiplier symbols and three free spins modifiers.

Da Vinci Diamonds uses an ornate picture frame to surround the reel set, and the game logo is displayed over the top with a sparkling diamond in between the words Da Vinci and Diamonds.

There are five reels, three rows of symbols, and twenty fixed paylines in this online slot, and in the base game, there are nine different symbols. There’s the game logo, a ruby, an emerald, an orange gemstone, a “WILD”, a “BONUS”, and three of Leonardo’s paintings, including the famous Mona Lisa, Lady with an Ermine, and Portrait of a Young Man.

All line wins pay from left to right, starting with Reel 1. And, as there are coloured payline indicators running down both sides of the reel set, it’s easier to see how wins are formed.

The paytable shows you how much cash you can win with the different symbols, and the most valuable is the game logo which awards an impressive five thousand times your bet for a five-of-a-kind winning combination.

Down at the bottom of the screen, you can adjust the line bet value to between £0.02 and £2.00 to give a total bet-per-spin of between 20p and £200. There’s also an Auto Spin button that lets you set up the game so that the reels spin automatically while the spanner-shaped button allows you to adjust the graphics quality.

Wild Symbol

In the Da Vinci Diamonds online slot, the wild symbol is represented by the pink gemstone within a golden picture frame, and you can’t fail to spot it as it contains the word “WILD” in its centre.

The wild symbol can be used to substitute for the three portrait symbols, the game logo, the ruby, the emerald, and the orange gemstone and, therefore, help you create more wins.

Scatter Symbol

The Da Vinci Diamonds online slot uses a pink-and-yellow “BONUS” symbol as its scatter. While it doesn’t pay for scatter wins, it can give you entry to the Free Spins Bonus.

Bonus Round

The most important thing to be aware of before you start to play Da Vinci Diamonds is the Tumbling Reels Feature. Every time that a winning combination is formed, you’re awarded any prizes that are due before the symbols in the win disappear from view.

The empty positions are subsequently filled by new symbols falling down from above, and if another win is created, the reels tumble again, and the process keeps repeating until no new winning combinations can be made.

If the “BONUS” symbol appears on Reels 1, 2, and 3 of an active payline on the same spin, you automatically receive six free games. The free spins play on a different set of reels which feature different gemstones and paintings (N.B., Virgin of the Rocks, Madonna of the Yarnwinder, and Portrait of an Unknown Woman) to the base game.

Should another three scatters come into view during the bonus game, you get two, three or four extra spins. Four scatters get you four, six, eight or ten more free spins, and five scatters award six, eight, ten, twelve or fifteen additional free spins.

As the bonus game can be retriggered, there’s the potential to win as many as three hundred free spins, but as the Tumbling Reels Feature is active throughout the bonus game, it feels like you benefit from way more free spins than you actually receive.
